A Record Breaking Month Comes to an End!

My record breaking month has finally come to an end....and I've managed to achieve the following:

  • Most caches in a calendar month : 270
  • Most caches found in 1 day : 72

  • Most caches found in 1 week : 133

  • Fastest 100 finds : 3 days

  • Found a cache on every day in the month, and hence....

  • Increased my cache-a-day record to 39 consecutive days....and counting

  • Passsed the 1500 and 1600 milestones

  • Managed to get 6 FTF's (not a record for me, but cool nevertheless!)
I doubt April will be as productive, but a trip to Blackburn on the 26th will help my stats towards the end of the month!

Some series I've completed (or attempted!) this month are:

Mutt's Trek - Excellent walk for 7 in the series plus 2 en route

Finding Flyford - Great walk for 9 in the series plus a puzzle if you can solve it

Hatherton Canal Walk - series of 6 on a linear walk, great stuff

UK Mega Series - Completed 1-70 with no DNF's

Big Kids Challenge - a complex 13 cache route, still 2 left to find!

Sezincote Stroll - Lovely walk in the Cotswolds for 10 caches

CacheWalker Kids Trail - completed these 7 caches on a figure of 8 walk with the Sezincote Stroll

March Mayhem - completed the original set, another 13 just published!

They are all worth doing!

The Oregon 300 has certainly been broken in this month, and the Field Notes function on it has saved me alot of time logging all those finds!

Geocaching Plans for April!

Letterboxing and Geocaching "up north"!

The plans to go up to Blackburn to grab a few of the excellent Witton Weavers Way letterbox caches are well underway. The trip is now schedule for Sunday 26th April.

I've signed up Team Balders, Graham1875 and Monki to the team, no doubt more will join us, and we will be attempting over 100 caches on a route exceeding 20 miles over hilly terrain, so a challenge for all!

The image below gives a rough idea of the route (going anti-clockwise), with the caches plotted on the map. We will be starting from the car park at the Turton and Entwistle Reservoir, continuing on a circular route all the way round to Edgworth, and back to the car. We will then attempt to circle the reservoir itself to grab even more caches.

A Record Breaking Month

I thought I'd blatantly copy Team Balders, and start a geocaching blog!

I've had a record breaking month so far, beating my previous records for the following:

Caches found in a month : 192 so far and still counting
Most found in a week : 133
Fastest 100 finds : 3 days
Consecutive days with a find : 26 and counting
Best weekend caching : 82 finds
Most finds in a day : 72 finds (with Team Balders and steve-e-b on the UK Mega Series)

I need one more FTF this month to equal my previous record of 7 FTF's in a month, 2 will beat it.....not sure if I'll beat this one, but I will certainly be giving it a try.

Kev and I might be out again this Sunday for more power caching.....not sure where yet. We toyed with the rest of the UK Mega Series, but 2 of the caches on that ring appear to have gone missing, so it might be better to wait.

The 100+ Letterbox caches up near Blackburn seem tempting too, particularly as I've got just 1 Letterbox cache in my "caching portfolio"!
